Heat Exchanger
Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 02:49PM Even with all this rust, we were unable to find a crack or hole!
It was a difficult task to get this out of the furnace.

Support? Clearance? Who needs 'em!
Thursday, January 27, 2011 at 08:44PM Please don't do this.... never cut a framing member to run a flue, or duct or, anything.
This is an open invitation to disaster.

Don't tuck away the condenser!
Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 11:57PM Let's face it, condensers are ugly large pieces of .... well equipment that are a necessary evil in our trade.
Many people, want to cover them to make them less unsightly. Remember, the common home owner, doesn't have a the faintest idea what a condenser does, or why it needs to BREATHE!
Remember, follow the manufactures' guidelines for clearances on condensers.
This thing is a beast to work on!

Need an extra wire, just Add A Wire
Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 11:13PM Venstar makes an ADD A WIRE, component that allows a 4 wire system act as a 5 wire system.
Please see HVAC Controls --> Add A Wire PDF, for a basic installation diagram.
I often use this to replace a battery powered t stat with a new digital tstat that uses the air handlers 24 volt power rather than batteries to operate.
